Sidereal positions of the Sun and Moon are computed with Swiss Ephemeris using Lahiri ayanamsa. Sankrantis and new/full moons are refined to sub-second precision via Newton-Raphson with instantaneous lunar velocity. Sunrise is computed from real lat/lon and timezone, then used as the observance instant for Nakshatra and Tithi.
Tamil solar (Chithirai - Panguni), Kerala / Malayalam (Medam - Meenam), Andhra / Telangana Amanta lunar (new-moon to new-moon), North Indian Purnimanta lunar (full-moon to full-moon, by Tithi), and a pure Nakshatra-only recurrence for those who only know their birth star.
When a lunar month has no sankranti it is reported as Adhika (intercalary) and shown with the canonical "next-nija" name. When it has two sankrantis it is reported as Kshaya (lost). Skipped tithis at sunrise are also detected and listed.
This is an astronomically computed approximation inspired by common Indian panchang conventions. It does not model every regional doctrine: Tamil Vakya / Thirukanitha variants, Vaishnava and temple-specific observances, prevailing-tithi rules (madhyahna, arunodaya, nishita), vedha exclusions, historical timezone shifts and DST are not differentiated. Sunrise uses the Swiss Ephemeris default convention (upper-limb with refraction). For religious observance, always cross-check with your printed panchang or family priest.
